Plate Pal shows general nutrition information about foods and simple meal ideas. It is not medical or dietetic advice and does not set calorie, weight or diet targets. Needs vary from person to person, so talk to a doctor or registered dietitian about your own diet, especially if you have a health condition, are pregnant or are under 18.

Values for everyday foods and dishes are typical figures from USDA FoodData Central (including its FNDDS survey foods) and vary with recipe, brand and cooking. Restaurant and chain items use USDA figures where USDA lists them, and otherwise a typical version of the same food, which the answer says. Packaged product data comes from Open Food Facts, which is crowd-sourced and can differ from the pack in your hand, so check the label. Traffic lights use the UK Food Standards Agency front-of-pack thresholds per 100 g or 100 ml. Meal macros are rough estimates.

Meal ideas marked halal-friendly assume halal-certified meat and suitable cheese, stock and sauces. Check packaged ingredients yourself or with Halal or Not?.

Meal ideas may come with up to two Amazon shop links, such as a cookbook or meal prep containers. These are affiliate links: if you buy through them, this service may earn a small commission at no cost to you. They never change the nutrition facts or the ideas. Food and barcode answers carry no shop links.

The service is free and provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions made using it. Contact: hello@askmizan.com
